SPEAK OUT CAMPAIGN

What is the campaign about?
The SPEAK OUT campaign is a program against children sexual abuse.

The campaign was set up to inform, educate and encourage children, parents, guardians teachers and medical providers to recognise sexual abuse of children and to SPEAK OUT about it,         get help for the victim and report the perpertrator and the incident to the relevant law authorities.

Why children do not speak out

Many children do not come forward about abuse, often because they are manipulated, confused, or if they know their abuser, to protect their abuser.

The secrecy is exacerbated by a fear that their community may shun them if they come forward.

Even when children do speak out, police officers often encourage families not to press charges in order to keep the family’s dignity intact.

The SPEAK OUT campaign is working to remove that social stigma by breaking the silence around sexual abuse.

WHAT IS CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE?
